Sample Request for Introduction

The following is the request for introduction you will receive when you subscribe.

Why we ask for introductions and suggestions for introducing yourself.

Tradition 3 states, 'The only qualification for membership is the problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend."

Because this is a closed meeting and open only to Al-Anon members, we ask that you share with us briefly about what brought you to Al-Anon. If you don't object, we'd like to share this introduction with the group when we introduce you.

We know that some newcomers and even old-timers are not comfortable sharing about themselves until they build a trust with the group. If you are uncomfortable sharing, you may simply state that in your subscribe request.

If you are unsure about what to share, here are some questions that may help you decide what to include in your share.

Are you already a member of Al-Anon? If so, how long have you been in the program?

Are you brand new to Al-Anon? How long ago did you join?

Are you brand new to online Al-Anon, but already an Al-Anon member? How long for each?

Do you already attend regular meetings? (If not, you may locate meetings by visiting

As soon as we receive your reply, we will add you to our CyberSerenity Al-Anon email list.

If you would rather not have your introduction shared with the group when you are introduced, please be sure to say so when you send it. Introductions without a message that the introduction should not be shared with the group will be sent to the group when you are introduced. We've found that this speeds up adding you to the list since we don't have to send a message asking if you if it is ok to send, then wait for your response.

About CAFG
We have a weekly topic, chosen by a Group Chair who rotates monthly. The topics are usually based on a step or tradition that changes monthly.
